Volvo S60 Concept bags design award

Volvo's S60 Concept has won this year's Auto Bild Design Award in the Concept Cars category, ahead of 28 competitors. With voting extended for the first time to Europe-wide scope, about 200,000 of the German magazine's readers from 27 countries selected the S60 Concept the pick of the concept bunch.

A winner, and plenty thought so.

The S60 Concept, which made its debut in Detroit in Jan, opens a new design chapter for the company. The coupé-inspired exterior blends a mix of classic Volvo design cues like the V-shaped bonnet and shoulder lines and new design elements.

The cabin is neat, for sure.

These include lean and trim window area graphics and the doors which glide, parallel to the sides of the vehicles, all the way back to the rear wheels at the push of a button.

Just how much will make it to the production sedan?

As for the interior, this is visually dominated by a glass centre console that flows in a gentle wave from the instrument panel to the back seats.
